Anita who immediately after her divorce, reverted to her maiden name, Ebhodaghe, has added a new name, Schafer to her name and this is visible in her latest post on her online christian website, pastoranita.org.
In the comment section of this new post, someone by the name Frau Glauben congratulated her for her name change while adding "it was such a beautiful ceremony" which could mean a "wedding". Four persons including three suspected armed robbers were yesterday confirmed dead after their vehicle fell on a mechanic.
The incident occurred around 2:20pm at the Iddo Terminus near Eko Bridge.
It was gathered that a gang of give armed robbers who snatched a grey coloured Hyundai JX35 marked SMK485CM from a priest, were fleeing when the vehicle skidded off the bridge and fell on a mechanic, Nwamba.
The pedestrian and three of the robbery suspects were said to have died instantly, while one escaped with injuries and the last suspect was rushed to the hospital.
It was gathered that a locally made pistol, a priest’s robe and a plague were found in the vehicle.
Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) General Manager Tiamiyu Adeniyi said the bodies were handed over to the appropriate agency.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was suspected to have been snatched at gun point with five suspected armed persons. Three of the suspected armed robbers died immediately, one escaped with injury while the fifth person was taken to the hospital.
“The dead bodies were taken to the mortuary, while vehicle was towed to Denton Police State, Ebutte Metta. Items found on them include: One locally made double barrel pistol with five live cartridges; one laptop; handset and a dollar note.

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) lost over $1trillion in revenues from the drop in crude prices globally, the Secretary-General of the body, Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, has said.
The OPEC chief, in a chat with reporters at the ongoing meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)/The World Bank Group in Washington DC, said the energy sector also suffered a cumulative investment loss of 26 per cent and 22 per cent in 2015 and 2016.
The prospects for 2017 do not look any better, he said.
His words: “OPEC member nations have in the last three years lost over $1trillion in terms of revenue. In terms of investments into this industry, we have seen over 26 per cent reduction in 2015 and in this year so far, we are predicting a further contraction of about 22 per cent. And as I had mentioned in plenary, the prospects for 2017 are also looking very bleak.”
He lamented that for the first time in recent memory, OPEC is not only having three consecutive years of depressed oil prices, but also seeing contraction in capital investment, particularly in the upstream for three consecutive years.
Barkindo warned that “this is a very serious development that is threatening future supplies to the global community with the consequences on the fragile state of the economies”.
What most forecast agencies failed to get correctly was the length of time it was going to take for the market to rebalance, he said, pointing out that it was not only OPEC that missed the target, “but most agencies, including the IMF and World Bank which came up with models that were found wanting.
“Nobody expected this cycle to last this long and with the severe consequences on the huge revenues that we have lost,” Barkindo said, adding: “This is perhaps the longest cycle that we have seen in recent times, it’s taken us now into the third year of this correction.”
Barkindo said in response to the threat to the global economy as a result of shocks from the fall in crude oil prices, OPEC, on the 28th of September, “ took a proactive and timely decision to agree on a range of ceiling of 32.5 million barrels per day to 33 million barrels per day production for its 14 members” “This is the first time that OPEC has taken such a decision since 2008.”
The objectives of this decision, said the OPEC chief, “was to restore stability in the market and address the issue of high inventories,” which he put at a billion barrels, “depressing prices”

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike yesterday berated the Department of State Services (DSS) for the arrest of judges over alleged corruption.
He described the defence of its action by the DSS as “deliberate misinformation and concocted stories to justify their unconstitutional assault on the nation’s judiciary”.
Wike said the DSS lacked the constitutional powers to be involved in the legal process to discipline a serving judicial official because “there is a legal process that must be followed”.
He spoke on Saturday night during a special dinner for the management and players of Rivers United at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
“The weak blackmail of the DSS will not lessen the crime they have committed against the Nigerian state by assaulting the judiciary,” Wike said, adding: “Their blackmail stories will not move me. They will concoct all kinds of stories to justify this undemocratic illegality perpetrated against the judiciary.
“It is really unfortunate that DSS would concoct a false defence that $2million (that is N900million) was found in the house of the judge. It is unfortunate that the DSS is coming up with flimsy excuses. “
Wike said apart from not condoning corruption, he would “never support any process that is targeted at ruining the nation’s judiciary”.
He said the National Judicial Council (NJC) had the responsibility to discipline erring judges, after which indicted judicial officers are handed over to the law enforcement agency for prosecution.
The governor said the police, the army and para-military agencies have their processes for the discipline of erring and corrupt officers.
“In the police, erring and corrupt policemen are first given orderly room trial, sacked and then appropriately prosecuted. For judicial officers, the DSS has no role.
“This impunity must stop. I am not in support of any judicial officer being involved in corruption. What we are saying is that the right things must be done. We must not do things that will jeopardise our hard earned democracy.
“If they had abducted the judge, they may go ahead to kill the judge and they will say that Rivers State is insecure.
“The way things are going, nobody should relax. Freedom comes with sacrifice. Independence comes with sacrifice. Liberty comes with sacrifice.
“We must resist this injustice. Nobody can intimidate Rivers people.”
The governor noted that contrary to DSS statement, he was with senior Rivers indigenes when he “stopped the DSS’ unconstitutional act”.
“I was there with our State and National Assembly members, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara , the PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah and some caretaker chairmen. When they said I was with thugs, I just laughed.

The Senator representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye has faulted the invasion of the residences of some Supreme Court and High Court judges by operatives of Department of State Security (DSS).
Melaye said that there was no doubt that the DSS operatives acted outside their constitutional mandate.
The lawmaker in a statement in Abuja on Sunday noted that although there was the need to rid the judiciary of corruption, “the approach adopted by President Muhammadu Buhari was totally wrong and unacceptable.”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator said that the invasion of the homes and arrest of the judges was condemnable especially when it is recognised that the agency conducted operation acted outside its core mandate.
He insisted that although judges have no immunity and could be tried, the use of DSS by government was “absolutely wrong and unacceptable.”
“I have studied the Act setting up DSS, Nigerian Intelligence Agency and DIA and can conclude that the DSS operatives went outside their core mandate. There is no doubt that many judges are corrupt. It is also important to state the need to sanitise the judiciary of corruption that make judges not to give commercial rulings which create terrible precedence in our legal system. Judges have no immunity and can be tried and should be tried but the use of DSS is absolutely wrong.
“The DSS operatives overstretched themselves and conducted investigations on the judges. They ought to have handed over their findings to the appropriate institutions of government: the Police or National Judicial Council for prosecution and punishment.
“The rule of law is a core value of governance and therefore must be guided jealousy. Prosecution of civil and corruption cases is not the responsibility of DSS. Internal security is the main duty of the DSS and they should stick to that.
“Gun-wielding DSS and police operatives had on Friday night and in the early hours of Saturday swooped on the residences of senior judges, breaking doors and threatening to harm their family members and aides.
“The judges affected in the raids carried out in Abuja, Port Harcourt and Gombe States were of the Supreme Court and Federal High Court judges
“At least two of the Justices were said to have recently ruled against the DSS and condemned its disregard of the laws of the land during its operations.
The arrested judges are Justice Sylvester Ngwuta (Supreme Court); Justice John Okoro (Supreme Court) and Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
“The DSS also searched the residence of another judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, but he was not arrested.”

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, has said he would apply for an order of Mandamus to force the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate the deposit and loans granted by former governors of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to some banks in the country. Falana, who stated this at a dinner organised by the executives of Senior Staff Club of University of Ibadan, who celebrated one of their members recently appointed by the Federal Government, said the loan ran into trillions of naira from 2006 to 2011.
According to him, it is important to know whether the money has been paid back to the treasury since the Federal Government claims the country is broke.
To him, it is unacceptable to say the country is broke when monies given out as loans or deposits are not accounted for, noting that the EFCC must probe, recover the funds and prosecute anybody found culpable.
Falana According to Falana, while a former Central Bank governor gave out $7 billion to 14 banks in 2006 without going through the parliament, another CBN governor, now an Emir, allegedly gave out $5 billion and in 2011, reportedly paid “N2.5 trillion to economic saboteurs while all that was appropriated by the parliament was N245 billion.
He said: “This university used to be one of the greatest in Africa and as matter of fact, in the 70s and 80s, it was the University of Ibadan radical scholars that subjected any idea from the seat of power to critical analysis. “Unfortunately, that is no longer the case and I think we must bring back the lost glory of this university.

The Lagos state police command have arrested two persons, 24 year old‎ Jamiu Alabi and 32 year old Yemi John for unlawful possession of human head. The Nation reports that the duo were apprehended at Church Bus Stop, Ipaja on Saturday October 8th.
They were alleged to have sandwiched three human heads in loaves of breads and inscribed names and amount on each. While one of them had Danjumo N20,000 written on it, the others had Yusuf N70,000 and Alhaji Mumuni N10,000.
Confirming their arrest, the Lagos state Police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, said the case was under discreet investigation.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a man who used packs of chicken flavoured noodles to smuggle cannabis through the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA) in Enugu State on a China bound plane.
According to the NDLEA spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju, the cannabis was carefully prepared inside packs of noodles to avoid detection. The suspect identified as Benson Onyechi Esonwunne, was attempting to board an Ethiopian Airways flight from Nigeria to China when he convinced an innocent passenger to carry the box of packaged chicken flavored noodles for him on the plane.
"It is instructive that people be aware of this trick because what they consider as an assistance may just send them to prison or early graves. This is because drug trafficking is punishable by death in China." Mr Ofoyeju said.The statement from NDLEA also said that Mr. Esonwunne had been deported from China two times prior for immigration offenses in 2008 and on May of this year. The suspect said that he began trafficking drugs because Nigeria’s economy was so poor, and its exchange rate so unfavorable, that he needed to turn to the illegal activity to get by.
The NDLEA said the man will face charges for his crime.

A man, Christopher Matthew Griffiths was sentenced to 24 weeks imprisonment after he cut the ears of his dog with pliers and scissors after feeding the dog Cocaine, a court has heard.
According to police he was jailed for the “deliberate and planned operation” on his pet Staffordshire bull terrier, Victor.
SPCA prosecutor Glen Murphy told Wrexham Magistrates Court that Griffiths caused unnecessary pain to Victor by cutting off the dog’s ears using scissors and pliers and giving him cocaine.
Judge Gwyn Jones sentenced Griffiths to 24 weeks imprisonment, gave him £80 prison surcharge and disqualified him from owning dogs for 10 years.
Griffiths in his own court statement claimed he had been attacked because he had refused to allow drugs to be stored at his home and while he was on the ground, his assailant used the pliers to remove Victor’s ears which the court didn't believe because to be able to have removed the dog's ears it must have required extreme force.
Traces of blood were found on Griffiths home and also the pliers and scissors used to attack the dog.
Bethan Jones, the Dog's defending lawyer said;
“It is clear this was a deliberate and planned operation which would have taken some time to exact. No one will ever know how much pain Victor suffered.
A considerable amount of force had to be used to cut the cartilage. It is clear that you ignored the obvious pain Victor was in and it was planned because you drugged the dog in advance. The injuries could have easily become infected had it not been for the intervention of the RSPCA and Victor could have come to further harm or even death.”
RSPCA inspector Kia Thomas said to Mirror UK: “When I first saw Victor I was just so shocked as his ears were gaping open wounds. I had never seen anything quite like it before.
“It must have been so painful for him. It was just so heart-breaking. It is awful to imagine what poor Victor went through. It was totally unnecessary.”

Obasanjo ‎endorsed the sale of the assets at the opening ceremony of the National Council On Finance and Economic Development Conference (NACOFED) in Abeokuta yesterday September 27th.
“I do not see why 49 per cent of NNPC cannot be privatised. I think the problem is in the coinage “selling of asset” as if we want to throw out our inheritance.

A BABY in China has been born with 15 fingers and 16 toes in an extreme case of a rare disease.
The three-month-old boy, nicknamed Hong Hong, was born to two migrant workers from the village of Zhongping, in Pingjiang County of China’s central Hunan Province.
The child suffers from an extreme case of polydactyly which is a congenital physical anomaly that can occur in humans, dogs, and cats giving them a larger number of digits on their hands and feet.
Astonishingly, Hong Hong has two palms on his hands and no thumbs.

Presidential spokesperson, Shehu Garba, yesterday came on twitter to deny reports that Zahra Buhari and her sister went with their father, President Buhari, to the US using government funds. According to Garba, the ladies flew using tickets funded by them. Many Nigerians apparently don't believe his claims. Three persons have been confirmed dead while fourteen others were injured after an 18-seater bus carrying members of a family plunged ito River Rijana on Kaduna-Abuja expressway Tuesday September 20th. Confirming the incident, the Head of Operations,‎ Kaduna Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Salisus Galadunci, said only person survived the horrible accident.
“The incident was reported by the only survivor, a woman who manage to report to an FRSC ambulance stationed at Doka unit, along Kaduna-Abuja expressway, around 7 am on Wednesday.
Rescuers from FRSC Doka, Katari and Kakau were immediately dispatched with ambulances, and with support of local divers to search for survivors. Eventually, only three bodies were recovered, while the remaining persons could not be found, including the survivor’s daughter,” he said

Unrelenting Niger Delta militants, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, have attacked another major crude oil delivery line belonging to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company in Delta State.
The incident occurred on Sunday at about 11: 30pm around Ekuigbo, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesman of the militant group, Aldo Agbalaja, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement issued on Monday.
It described as “waste of resources” the use of military men to guard oil and facilities in the region, adding such would never yield any positive result.
